The US unit in the film is just refered to as 'Rangers' - any idea what we can identify our US group as? Could you make something feasible up Steve?

Also, the church isn't identified in the film, nor are there any signs or notices - is it mentioned in the book Guy?

Christ, I think I'll just do a sign that can be hung from some 2x4 attached to a building rather than on a pillar like that!

The unit will have to be the 1st Ranger Battalion. The 2nd Battalion didn't arrive in the UK until December '43 which doesn't fit in with the dates in the film.

Unit history here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1st_Ranger ... _States%29

Stephen, can you find out what materials they work in? and do they offer surface coating? (thin gauge mild steel will be cheapest, but will need to be coated to avoid rust) If you can let me know, i can change the design accordingly.

Big props required.

88mm gun for US exercise, German sabotage - Josh
Churchill's transport - Either Guy's landy (if it's coming down) or Josh's 4x4 thing
DC3 and general troop transport - Josh's truck

Were you going to bring the landy Guy?

We don't need a design at the moment. Just dimensions and a reference picture. My friend with design it and price it up. I can specify what grade and finish we need and that'll be included.

What do you guys think of this?

I'm not sure if it's good enough. I can print this onto A3 then stick it to the board and varnish over.

Alternatively, I can try and hand paint something.

Dave, if this is of adequate quality I could send the high res image to you for printing then you could send it to me. Is that possible?

NB: Just noticed the kettle's facing the wrong way, will sort.

Fantastic. I've got a big folder of details on Brit Drop Containers, i'll zip it up an email it over this evening. Got everything he'll need - from dimensions to shedloads of pics.

Kidding aside , I'll have a look in the book and see what the pub was called if you like .

LOL, not reading threads again Guy? The Spyglass and Kettle is correct! (What I do need to know is the name of the Church...)

Stephen - The sign needs to around 24" x 30", send the file to me and I'll print and mount it (along with the other all the other load of signage)

24" by 30"

Hmmm, not sure these images will stand up to that level of scrutiny!

I'll give it a go and post you a disk. I'll knock up an MDF swing board to fit to the side of one of the buildings for added affect. We can fit it to that with velcro or something.

OK Dave

This should link to a large image. It should e 300 dpi, but I'm no expert so I may have fecked it up.

If the colours are a bit off once printed I can send you a PSD image on disk, but at 85mb it's a bit large for upload.

This one's 8.5mb.

Watched the film again , bloody church name is not there , but  finally found the book again

"St Marys and All the Saints"

BTW the name of the pub is given as "The Studely Arms" which is a bit boring .

Be nice if we could get the theme tune like Stephen did with Where Eagles Dare ?

Yes, I've watched the film frame by frame and there is no clue about the church (brilliant to see what we don't see normally - one of the jeeps is in closeup when it's shot up - you can clearly see the charges on the headlamps and the airguns aimed at the windshield).

So great, thanks! "St Marys and All the Saints" it is.

I'm not sure how to pull a soundtrack off a commercial DVD - let's see if the interweb can come up with the goods...

All the CD tracks seem very short Steve - I've listened to excerpts and it wasn't what I expected. How long is the one you downloaded?
